This extra deep PML oil pan for Dodge RFE transmissions is a direct replacement on these vehicles:
2014 and newer trucks: Cooler lines run under the stock transmission pan on many models. We are working with our customers to determine if this pan will work (October 2014). If you have a 2014 or newer truck, check carefully for clearance and let us know what you find.
PML makes four different pans for the Dodge RFE transmission series (45RFE, 5-45RFE, 65RFE, 66RFE, 68RFE). The stock pans and filters are also shown in the image below for reference.
If you have a skid plate, you may need to move it downwards away from the transmission pan. Please see installations below for customers who have provided pictures of their installations, including one with skid plate modifications. These Jeeps (along with some Dodge vehicles) usually have skid plates that limit clearance:
When Dodge decided to use the transmission from the Hemi trucks on the 6.7 liter diesel powered trucks, PML knew that the trucks would see even heavier towing use and increased oil capacity would be a benefit. PML deep pan (part number 10304) and extra deep pan (part number 11039) fit the same applications with the same exceptions.
This design has a slant to it (one side longer than the other) so that once on the truck, the bottom is parallel to the ground like the stock pan. Unlike most other transmissions, Dodge put an angle on the gasket surface.

Stock 2WD filter and pan at left.
Note the location of the pick-up on the sump filters and the corresponding location on the stock pans.
For PML part numbers 10304 and 11039, you can use either filter.
For PML part numbers 11078 and 11079, you must use the 4WD filter as the step in the pan will not accommodate a 2WD filter. Thanks to Eric who provided part numbers for 4WD filters that will work:
The filter referred to as the 2WD filtter, has a short inlet pipe toward the rear of the filter. The other filter is called a 4WD filter and the inlet tube is longer and toward the center of the filter. We have been told that around 2007 Dodge began using 4WD filters on 2WD vehicles.
PML pans for Dodge RFE transmissions work with stock filters, easily available from your favorite auto parts store or dealer.
The filter bolts on to the valve body as shown in above images. The filter does not use the pan for support so the pan does not need filter supports in it. (Click on image to view a larger pictures in a new tab or window.)
A filter extension or tube is not needed since the fluid will be at the same level with a stock pan as with the PML pan. The filter will pick up from the same place with the stock pan or with a PML pan. PML designs pans and covers to work with stock parts without the need for additional modifications or complications.
Information is for reference only. Installer should verify transmission, filter, and fitment based on the individual vehicle.
The pan features internal baffles to direct oil to the filter inlet and provide additional surface area for cooling.

Jeep Liberty CRD, 2005 and 2006
Many customers have installed this extra deep pan or the regular deep pan on the Liberty CRD. Two customers thoroughly documented their installations:

Victor installed this transmission pan on a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The pan fit great without any clearance issues. Our thanks to Victor for providing the pictures.
