Like any other spring native to a stock Super Duty, the factory Sway Bar is nearly immobile. Conversely, it’s the most neglected spring on the vehicle as people fail to look past the front coils and rear leaf springs when looking to “soften” the factory ride. Well, the factory sway bar is essentially a brace locking the axle to the frame. What does this mean? What you hit with one tire is immediately transferred to the other tire and into the frame causing a high frequency reverberation/chatter felt in the cab. If you’ve ever hit a manhole cover on the driver’s side tire and felt a shake in the entire truck or you’ve ever entered an off-camber driveway and smacked your head on the window – you can thank the factory sway bar. Truth be told, it’s responsible for many of the small-bump compliance gripes thanks to immobility.

So where does the factory sway bar come in? These trucks are heavy pigs… Even being radius arms (MUCH better for sway control than a 4-Link), a bit of supporting spring rate plays a substantial roll in keeping the body roll in check and suspension composed. The Factory sway bar is setup to load the truck to it’s MAX legal weight and haul it safely – for this application, there’s no better bar. Throw a 3,500 pound cab-over camper in the bed and hit some remote mountain roads en-route to your destination and it all starts to make sense why Ford did what they did.

For everyone that’s not loaded to the GVWR daily, the Carli Torsion Sway Bar provides the final link lightening the last spring on the truck maximizing the ride quality of the Super Duty Platform. Keeping your factory bar limits comfort, removing it completely makes for questionable control when hauling or emergency maneuvering. After several revisions and years in development, the Carli Torsion Sway Bar Splits the Difference perfectly allowing a small amount of differentiation side to side before progressively engaging to add the needed control as leverage is applied. Rip corners in the dirt with surgical precision knowing there’s exactly enough rate to hold the body steady while cutting your line through the dirt. Hit the tarmac and enjoy the benefit of the lighter rate bar cruising around town with it’s on-road feel reminiscent of an independent front suspension – no more chassis reverberation on small bumps and let the suspension dance in the level cab while hitting off-camber driveways.

In typical Carli fashion, there are no disconnects on the end links nor multiple holes in the bar to change the leverage applied. This bar is refined to work in conjunction with our custom tuned suspensions to throw an exponent on the ride quality. The rate is set, the bar will not hinder articulation justifying a disconnect. The Rate is the perfect balance splitting control and comfort – install and enjoy!

Carli Pintop 2.5” 2015 F350

I bought my truck new in 2015 and have debated for 10 years on a nice suspension setup. I emailed with CJC back forth maybe 30 times. CJC was always quick to respond, usually within a few minutes. They listened to my needs and recommended the Pintop kit for converting my work truck into an overlander with a pop-up camper. Even post-sale CJC continues to advise me on wheel and tire spec, with their thorough knowledge and experience with these kits on solid axle trucks. I spent a lot of money on this kit and feel that buying it from anywhere else would have left me with open questions. I had a rough-riding spacer lift from another manufacturer and was debating selling my truck, but now this thing absolutely rallies with the Pintop kit and I couldn’t be more impressed with CJC’s customer service. I also spoke to Carli twice, and while they are a little harder to get ahold of they were also very thorough in answering my multitude of questions, and their feedback matched CJC’s recommendations. My mechanic was a bit overwhelmed with the install because I checked every box for options. It took two weeks to get my truck back, and cost more than I expected, so be prepared for that. Highly recommend CJC and Carli!

Solid Improvement

Waited a long time for this to come out! My Carli set up has been on for about 10 years and with the seat time of daily driving, offroading, and towing, I guess you can say I kinda know what to expect out of how it handles off camber impacts. The torsion sway is firm enough to not feel loose on the body roll but softens the side by side motion that whips your neck driver to passenger. I haven't towed with it yet so I cannot say how its manners will change. But I feel confident it won't feel dangerous. I also don't hot rod when towing like I see others on the road. Worth it for your overall driving experience. Only draw back is the investment as it's almost double of the rest of the torsion sway Carli puts out. I get it though, they have to make up their initial investment for a truck model series that isn't a spring chicken anymore. Also, CJC is great to work with and on their "A" game as expected.
