This Mopar Big Box fits 2003-2008 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks and offers improved durability and strength compared to the factory steering box.

Dodge Ram trucks are notorious for steering issues and wear because people often use inferior grade parts to replace the factory units when they eventually wear out. The Mopar Big Box is an OEM new box that is up to the task. Unlike many re-manufactured boxes that are simply re-built, this is a brand new product assembled and produced by Mopar.

In our experience this box is a fantastic and durable solution for trucks seeing heavy use, or trucks that have 35" or 37” ties that put more strain on the steering parts. The larger internals and massive sector shaft have no issues bearing the additional load!

This box does require the larger, included pitman arm since the sector shaft is larger than the OEM. This box typically requires a modified box brace due to the sector shaft size as well. In our experience we don’t find them to be necessary with this box on 03-08 Ram trucks. This box also works with the factory steering pump.

Great Upgrade, but be aware...

Installed this in my 3rd gen Power Wagon w/ 37's. Also installed (from CJC) Synergy components as recommended. All is well, but the steering effort increased noticeably. No love lost, but if doing this again, I'd have also considered adding a PSC kit for more sensitive steering while towing a 5K# travel trailer.

Enjoy the setup! It sounds to us like you may need a new power steering pump. If the box was worn out enough to be replaced, the pump is likely struggling as well! The Mopar big box does traditionally have a slightly heavier steering feel, but a worn out pump will exaggerate that greatly!
