This PML pan fits 700R4, 4L60, and 4L60E transmissions. GM and Chevy use these transmissions in many cars and trucks. This low profile pan works well on vehicles with limited clearance, like Corvette and Camaro. The 700R4 is also a popular aftermarket replacement transmission.

PML designed this pan as a heavy duty replacement for the stock GM shallow pan that came with vehicles model year 1998 and older, 1996 and older Corvette, and a few vehicles, such as Camaro and Firebird up to 2002. The stock GM shallow pan and the stock GM deep pan are shown in the picture below.

If you have the stock GM deep pan, please see PML part number 9427 as this pan, part number 9297, will not work for you.

Note there are two versions of the stock GM shallow pan. They have the same depth. The older version is primarily found on 700R4 transmissions. This PML pan, part number 9297, can replace either style stock GM shallow pan.

Some examples of common vehicles that this pan will fit are:

  • Astro Van, 1985 to 1998, 2.5 or 4.3 engine
  • Camaro, 1983 to 1992, 2.8, 5.0 or 5.7 engine (shift cable bracket modification needed)
  • Camaro, 1993 to 2002 3.4, 3.8, or 5.7 engine
  • Corvette, 1984 to 1996, 5.7, LT1 or LT4 engine (shift cable bracket modification needed)
  • Firebird, 1983 to 1992, 2.8, 5.0 or 5.7 engines (shift cable bracket modification needed)
  • Firebird, 1993 to 2002 3.4, 3.8 or 5.7 engine
  • Safari Van, 1985 to 1998, 2.5 or 4.3 engine

Some customers may be able to use a deeper pan to increase capacity. Check your vehicle to determine if you have ground clearance and check for exhaust or frame cross members under the stock pan prior to ordering. See part number 8650-1 if you have room and want a deeper pan.

This pan features a drain hole and magnetic drain plug for easier fluid changes, fins and aluminum construction to dissipate heat, and a boss that can be machined for a temperature sensor.

Filter Information

PML designed this pan to work with the 700R4, 4L60 and 4L60E filters that fit the stock GM shallow pan. Please see our Filter Guide for PML Part Number 9297.

Shift Cable Mounting Bracket

You may have to modify your shift cable mounting bracket to use this pan. If the trans pan mounting bolts hold the shift cable bracket on, please reference this article from Vette magazine for details.

PML Transmission Pan Features:

  • Sand-cast aluminum with raised fins
  • 3/16-inch thick wall construction to add strength to the transmission case
  • 3/8-inch thick gasket flange will not bend when bolts are tightened
  • Machined gasket surface for a secure seal
  • Boss cast into pan can be machined for a temperature sensor
  • Magnetic drain plug for easier, less messy maintenance
  • Mounting hardware provided

Gasket and filter not included (use stock parts).

If you would like PML to machine your pan for a temperature sensor, there is an additional charge of $40. Please place your order over the phone if you would like machining.
