These Thuren rear traction bars reduce axle wrap shudder under hard acceleration and in low traction conditions. CNC machined at Thuren from solid billet 6061 aluminum, they feature weld-on 3/16" steel brackets at both the axle tube and frame and 17-4 Stainless Steel center ball joints with polyurethane bushing races and grease zerk fittings on each end for easy maintenance. These bars have an anodized finish for corrosion resistance.
If you've ever felt that violent shudder under hard acceleration in sand, snow, or soft terrain, you know what axle wrap is doing to your truck. The factory leaf spring setup on these trucks allows the axle housing to rotate under drive load, storing and releasing energy as a harsh, uncontrolled shudder when the tire breaks traction. It's hard on your drivetrain, hard on your leafs, and it kills forward momentum.
Thuren's Traction Bar Kit fixes this by controlling axle rotation and keeping the pinion angle stable under load. Each bar is machined from a solid piece of 6061 aluminum in-house.
The 17-4 Stainless Steel center ball joints with polyurethane bushing races give you a joint that moves freely through the suspension cycle without binding, while still being tight enough to keep the axle exactly where it should be.
Axle-side brackets are specific to 3.5" or 4.0" axle tubes. Please measure your axle to be sure, as certain year trucks could be optioned with either. A competent fabricator or welder can have this kit fully installed without any drilling, cutting, or custom fab work beyond the welds themselves. Sold as a pair. Driver and passenger sides included
