Apex heavy duty steering for 2003-2013 Ram 2500 and 2003-2012 Ram 3500 trucks uses massive DOM tubing, and easily greaseable metal on metal joints to firm up steering feel and handle the stress of larger tires and heavy off road use.

This steering linkage was designed from the ground up to address all the flaws of the factory linkage these trucks come with and is the highest quality steering kit available for the 03-13 Ram platform! This steering is direct bolt in with NO drilling or modification necessary. All joins are easily serviced and can be replaced if necessary. Apex is a new name in the Ram steering world, but has quickly shown that they're here to stay.

03-08 Ram owners converting from Y style steering (see third photo in carousel for comparison) will need to select the option to add a pitman arm.

We offer several steering stabilizer options for this linkage and are the ONLY source for running a Carli high mount stabilizer with this linkage. Please note that you will need to select one or both clamp options to run any of the stabilizer choices listed

HOUSING
  • SAE 1045 Solid Steel Forged Housing: This is unequivocally the best carbon alloy steel for this application.
  • CNC Machined Housing: Make our parts and bearings dimensionally perfect, eliminating any die wear issues.
BALL STUDS
  • SAE 4140 Hot Forged Chromoly Ball Studs: For the strongest possible metallurgy.
  • Induction Heat Treated Ball Studs: Provides a very precise heat treatment to the exact depth and location we want it.
  • Rolled Threads: Made by pressing the shape of the threads into the ball stud instead of cutting. This strengthens the threads instead of weakening them and allows for easy movement of hardware. This ain't no Ikea furniture!
  • Step Threads: Allows for very easy movement of hardware on install and superior holding when torqued (installer choice).
BEARING DESIGN

BOOTS
  • CR Rubber Boots: The most durable material for undercar applications. Resistant to deterioration from road level ozone, oil/gas/engine fluids and extreme heat or cold.
  • Accordion Boot: Ideal for high-articulation components, more flexibility means longer life.
FINISH
  • Polished Aluminum: Highly polished, raw aluminum
  • Black Aluminum and DOM Steel: Powder coated black
HARDWARE
  • Grade 8 - Class 10.9 Hardware: Superior tensile strength.
  • Castle Nut: Industry standard where high vibration loads occur.
ADJUSTING RODS
  • Tie Rod: 1.75" DOM SAE 1020 Tube: Heavy walled steel tubing provides the tightest most robust steering on the market.
  • Drag Link: 1.75" DOM SAE 1020 Tube: Heavy walled steel tubing provides the tightest most robust steering on the market.
  • Tie Rod: 2" 7075-T6 Aluminum Rod: The best aluminum available for this application. Extremely durable but has some flex and memory if you really bash it into something.

LUBRICATION
  • Pre Threaded Zerk Housing: If you have ever installed a MOOG Ball Joint without a pre-threaded zerk fitting you will understand what a simple but great feature this is. Another installer fav.
  • Greaseable: Because it should be.
  • Pre-Greased: Just in case you forget, we have you covered.
  • Gull Winged Grease Grooves: Allows for improved lubrication disbursement around the ball stud.
  • Zerk Fittings: Included for every application.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • ProLock Link Connect System (TM): Exclusively from APEX - This patent pending system utilizes a precision keyway cut into the threads of our tie rod ends, and a pre-bent keyway washer that locks onto the wrench flats of the connecting rod to completely stop any tie rod rotation once the jam nut is set. The jam nut, once torqued to spec, is then locked in place with 3 set-screws inset into the jam nut.
  • Pre Bent Ninja Washers (tm): An APEX exclusive is our Ninja Washer which is a unique method of securing the lock nut to the tube, erasing the need for lightly built adjusting tubes with ugly pinch clamps. 
    And who doesn't want a ninja on their front end!
  • Greaseable, High Articulation Spherical Bushing: For extreme durability our passenger side tie rod is fitted with an oversized greaseable high articulation spherical bushing. This allows for maximum articulation and load disbursement, for better performance, and longer life.
  • Minimum Engagement Mark on Drag Link End Threads: If this mark in the thread of the drag link is showing it means you are beyond the safe engagement of threads into the adjusting sleeve. You may be lifted too high and need to switch to a flip kit or you may need to equal out the adjusting sleeve between the two ends.

Beyond happy!!

Everything is perfect and exactly what I wanted and it was exactly what was promised! I explained the package I was looking for and what I planned on doing with the vehicle and they set me up perfect.

Problems straight out of the box.

This in no way is pointed at CJC off-road. I’ve bought several items over the years, shipping is quick, questions are answered. CJC is great! I bought an older version of the Apex Chassis steering linkage for a different truck about a year ago, had small issues with it. Needed another linkage for a different truck, decided to try again because of the Black Friday deals. When I went to install the tie rod assembly, drivers side would not thread into the threaded cross tube. Had to clean up the tie rod threads, it did thread together, but would not adjust. Struggled getting it apart. Damaged the threads as it came apart. Called Apex for warranty, had to send in pictures and fill out a form. Was told they could next day air the parts. That option was never given, Apex never called just sent an email next day stating parts were ground shipped. I was under a time crunch to finish the project, I called a competitor and had a linkage next day aired. I like how stout the linkage is, don’t care for the pre-bent ninja washers. I think the key way cut in the tie rod threads is a great idea, but why pre-bend the washer? Overall, I might purchase APEC Chassis products again…..

Beefy Linkage

Super beefy linkage. Just looked so much bigger than the factory stuff! I am looking forward to seeing how it lasts. I coupled with a PSC box, and now the steering is super responsive and tight. Highly recommend. I had to upgrade to the anodized aluminum as the cheaper units were not in stock.

Apex steering linkage

Way better than the worn out stock linkage. Fit was good a little hard to torque the jam nuts alone but other than that it’s great.
